Exbiblio™'s environmental grants will focus on conserving and restoring large corridors of natural ecosystems with a three step approach: 1) protecting key habitats by creating individual reserves, 2) restoring degraded landscapes to enlarge conservation areas and 3) securing significant-sized wilderness by establishing large natural corridors that connect existing conserved and restored areas.

The destruction rate of natural habitats is accelerating. Scientific evidence suggests that protecting large areas of wildlife habitat is essential to healthy ecosystems. Species that depend on them are at risk of extinction. In general, the smaller reserves have higher rates of species extinction.

To be effective, reserves must be connected to the surrounding natural environment. Exbiblio will focus on restoration of areas surrounding the conserved land in wildlife corridors. Through restoration, the land surrounding these conserved areas will expand, increasing the chance for species survival and stemming the tide of habitat loss.

To facilitate the flow of life across entire landscapes, Exbiblio will help to establish large natural corridors that connect protected areas. Linking conserved and restored areas into corridors of wild habitat allow the unimpeded movement of wildlife and natural processes. Species will survive.
